Description
Soviet design bureau Mil’s Hind family of assault helicopters has been hugely successful, both domestically and in export sales. Developed over decades via different variants, the machine is still in use globally. Kit-wise, there have been several 1/72 toolings such as those from Hasegawa, ESCI, Hobby boss and Zvezda – the last two being the most accurate thus far.
One option dating originally from 1992, though, is the kit from Italeri, which has been reissued with new parts and decals as item 1432. It’s labelled as an Mi-24/Mi-35, the second designation signifying the export version of the Mi-24 Hind-E. Italeri’s kit actually appears to portray a late Mi-24D Hind-D airframe, with the original four-barrelled 12.7mm machine gun. The kit also comes with the smaller under-nose missile-directing antenna fairing for the AT-2 Swatter missile, as opposed to the larger unit for the AT-6 Spiral missile sported by the Hind-E.
Requires Paint and model cement to complete – sold separately.
