The first generation of Mercury Cyclone was introduced for the 1964 model year. The first generation Cyclone, also known as the Comet Cyclone, was a performance version of the Mercury Comet. The Cyclone was originally powered by a 4.7L V8 engine, and was available exclusively as a coupe. Production of the first generation Cyclone lasted until 1965
