Is this the “best bike in the world” as Triumph proclaimed in 1959?

The Bonneville was introduced and marketed in 1959. It was developed so quickly that Triumph could not even include it in its 1959 catalogue.

It was the result of a strong demand from American customers who were looking for a high performance motorbike; it could reach 110 miles per hour (177km/h). Very fast indeed!

The name Bonneville is said to come from a Triumph prototype, the Devil’s Arrow, which had run at 311km in 1955 on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
