Description
Introduced in 1951, the Aero Shackleton Mr.3 was a long-range Marine reconnaissance/search and rescue aircraft of the Royal Air Force coastal command. Developed as part of Britain response to a growing Soviet Navy, the Mr.3 carried extensive electronics for its anti-submarine role, as well as maritime Patrol and SAR duties. It was finally retired from service in 1991.
